Home About Us News And Events Establish A Fund Grants Scholarships Resources

In August of 2005, the Community Foundation, in partnership with the Anniston Community Education Foundation, United Way of East Central Alabama and the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, located in Montgomery, provided grant funding to establish a satellite office of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama (NRCA) in Calhoun County. Currently, NRCA has offices in Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile.

This three-year grant to NRCA will strengthen, support and further the organizational capacity of nonprofit institutions in Calhoun County and northeast Alabama. Also, through the generosity of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation and the Anniston Community Education Foundation, scholarships will be available to ensure that these training sessions are accessible to organizations that have limited resources.

The NRCA office is located with the Community Foundation. To reach Ellye Bernardi, MSW, Director, call 256.231.1100 or ellye@nrca.info.

CCCounts The Community Foundation of Calhoun County (CFCC) is a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit trust recognized by the Alabama attorney general and the Internal Revenue Service. With its creation in 1999, the Foundation joined more than 650 community foundations across the nation formed as early as 1914.

Like other community foundations, the CFCC is one foundation with many charitable component funds that serve the residents of Calhoun County and also provides philanthropic services throughout northeast Alabama. Using a broad range of charitable fund options and deferred giving vehicles, donors and their professional advisors can more easily achieve their long-term objectives. In addition, donors benefit from the growing assets of the CFCC resulting in reduced investment and administrative fees yielding a greater benefit to the community. The flexible structure of a community foundation, combined with the most favorable tax deductions, makes CFCC a sound charitable resource for individuals, families, civic groups, associations, nonprofit organizations, religious institutions and corporations.

The CFCC is a member of the Council on Foundations located in Washington, D.C. and complies with the Council’s national standards for community foundations. The Community Foundation is also registered with GuideStar and the Foundation Center, two national nonprofit tracking and reporting organizations.
