Cleve Holloway Memorial Scholarship:
More Info

Mrs. Maudine Holloway established The Cleve Holloway Memorial Scholarship Fund on April 19, 2000, the anniversary of Mr. Holloway’s birth. During his life, Mr. Holloway did not have an opportunity to attend college. At age six his mother died and his life of work and family support began. This continued as he was employed with U.S. Pipe at age fourteen and later began his own business interests which evolved into several companies and real estate holdings.

During his life Mr. Holloway provided both encouragement and financial support to insure that nieces, nephews and extended relatives had a college education. Mr. Holloway died on November 18, 1997 doing what gave him joy all of his life—working so others could better their lives and care for their families. To further his work and generous spirit this scholarship endowment has been established as a component fund of the Calhoun County Community Foundation.

More Info

Bobby and Elaine Edmondson established this award to celebrate the lives of Melanie, their daughter, who lived from June 3, 1965 to December 24 1994; and Todd, their son, who lived from May 26, 1970 until August 24 1997.

The Edmondson family moved to Oxford in 1974, and quickly realized that the northeast Alabama City would be their permanent home. It was their friends and neighbors who were like family as Melanie and Todd became young adults and eventually graduated from Oxford High School. Those same dear friends were a constant support as Bobby and Elaine endured the loss of Melanie on Christmas Eve and then the death of Todd three years later.

In gratitude to the people of Oxford for their genuine care and support, Bobby and Elaine establish this award for graduates of Oxford High School. This scholarship is intended to encourage young people, to promote their dreams and to help lessen some of life’s challenges.
