E. D. King Family Fund
Established in 1985 as a private foundation by E. D. and Clara T. King, the fund was added to the Community Foundation of Calhoun County in 1999 and continues its work providing assistance or resources for the uninsured poor of Calhoun County. Annually, the Foundation will award grants through the healthcare application process to address those issues that contribute to long-term illness or premature death. The Fund will utilize the Foundation's Community Health Assessment to target the areas of greatest need.
The Preventative Healthcare Fund
Established in 1999 by the former Stringfellow Memorial Hospital Foundation, their board of trustees created the fund to continue their work combating the systemic issues related to poor health. Annually, the Foundation will award grants through the healthcare application process to address those issues that contribute to long-term illness or premature death. The fund will utilize the Foundation's Community Health Assessment to target the areas of greatest need.
The Stringfellow Health Fund
This fund continues the healthcare legacy of Susie Parker Stringfellow who established the original trust prior to her death in 1920. In 1999, the trust became the largest component fund of the Community Foundation of Calhoun County. Distributing healthcare related grants, the Fund seeks to better the quality of life for residents of Calhoun County, Alabama.
Hon. & Mrs. Foy J. Guin Charitable Fund
The Honorable & Mrs. J. Foy Guin, Jr. Charitable Fund (GCF) of the Community Foundation of Calhoun County was made possible through a gift from the Guin Evangelical Support Foundation of the University Church of Christ, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The primary charitable purpose of the Fund shall be to support missionary, evangelical, educational, and other charitable activities of the Churches of Christ in the State of Alabama.
The Community Foundation of Calhoun County Board of Trustees are responsible for making the final decision on all grants to be allocated from the Fund; therefore, the board makes every effort to assess the health care needs of the community and to prioritize those needs. A copy of the most recent Community Health Assessment is available by contacting the Foundation office.
