Healthcare Mini-Grants

The healthcare grants of the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama are made from a number of funds designated for healthcare purposes. Grants from the various healthcare funds are restricted to 501(c)(3) qualified public charities operating in Calhoun County and providing services to residents of Calhoun County, or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations outside Calhoun County that provide healthcare or medical services in Calhoun County to residents in Calhoun County.

Mini-Grant requests are limited to a maximum of $10,000 for one year. Funding will be provided only for specific items relevant to a well defined short-term need such as a planning grant, consultant fees, equipment, training, conference or other small projects. Mini-Grant applications are due on March 1 and Septemeber 1 of each year.  Guidelines   Application

Donor Advised Fund Grants (Currently Unavailable)

The Foundation has a number of donor or family funds that make broad grants to various community needs within northeast Alabama. To be considered for funding ($250.00 up to $5,000) by one or more of these funds, please send a two paragraph summary of your project or funding request along with a copy of your IRS Letter of Determination and your organizations latest Financial Statements/Aduit/990 to the Foundation by September 1 and March 1. The staff will review and submit your request to the various donor representatives for their consideration. The Board of Trustees finalizes donor fund awards in mid October. 
 
Unrestricted Grants

The Foundation has embarked on an ambitious goal to raise one million in unrestricted funds by 2015. The Longleaf Fund (unrestricted) will make grants in support of unmet needs in the community. Unfortunately, until the fund reaches a level of meaningful distribution, the Foundation is unable to award unrestricted grants other than those supported from the Donor Advised Funds listed above. Currently, The Longleaf Fund has grown to nearly $100,000.
  
Foothills Community Partnership Grants (Currently Unavailable)

In June 2008, the Foundation received a $500,000.00 endowed gift from the Foothills Community Partnership. The Partnership is comprised of several companies who proactively coordinated lead clean-up in the greater Anniston area. The Fund's purpose is to improve human care issues. The Fund’s focus is on programs and projects that are dedicated to improve or enhance:
 
a)      Education
b)      Community and Economic Development
c)      Safety and Wellness
 
There is no application process for this grant. Each year, the Community Investment Committee reviews potential projects, programs or services that will make a significant impact. Recommendations are welcome from the public or the non-profit sector and may be submitted to the Foundation throughout the year. The award is made in October as part of the spring grant cycle.  
 
Hon. & Mrs. J. Foy Guin, Jr. Grants (Currently Unavailable)

The Honorable & Mrs. J. Foy Guin, Jr. Charitable Fund was established in appreciation of the moral and religious values that shaped their lives and their love for family and community. The Fund provides grants from $5,000 to $10,000 in support of missonary, evangelical, educational, and other charitable activities of the Churches of Christ within the State of Alabama.

General Help and Assistance

The application process is to foster a suitable match between the donor's intention and the proposed request. If you or your organization needs assistance, advice or guidance in seeking funding, please contact the Vice President. Staff are very willing to discuss your funding proposals before you make a formal request to ensure that you apply for the appropriate fund and to maximize your valuable time and resources. Organizational Capacity and Technical Assistance

The Foundation views its mission in partnership with nonprofit, community based, governmental agencies, faith-based and grassroots organizations as integral to the social well-being of our community. Every organization progress on various levels of capacity and capability in fulfilling their individual missions. To foster this organizational development and to assist in the advancement of our funding partner's, the Foundation is working with the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama .
